The Quality Assurance Manager within HR, Training & Compliance is responsible for protecting and elevating the guest and team experience by ensuring that service, operational, and compliance standards are consistently applied across the venue. This role acts as a bridge between policy and practice, turning brand expectations into measurable standards, routine checks, and corrective action. In a restaurant, club, or lounge environment, the Quality Assurance Manager helps safeguard consistency, professionalism, and legal compliance while supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

This position typically sits within the central support function of HR, Training & Compliance and reports to the HR Manager, Training Manager, Compliance Manager, or Operations Director, depending on the structure of the business. It works closely with senior leadership, department heads, floor managers, trainers, and supervisors to monitor standards and close performance gaps.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and auditing quality standards for service, hygiene, safety, team conduct, and customer experience
  • Conducting regular inspections, compliance checks, and operational assessments across front-of-house, back-of-house, and guest-facing areas
  • Tracking incidents, trends, and recurring issues, then recommending corrective actions and process improvements
  • Supporting the implementation of training standards, SOPs, and service benchmarks across departments
  • Working with managers to ensure staff understand expectations and consistently follow procedures
  • Preparing reports, documenting findings, and presenting action plans to leadership
  • Assisting with onboarding, refresher training, and coaching where quality gaps are identified
  • Ensuring alignment with licensing, health and safety, food safety, HR policies, and venue-specific compliance requirements

The ideal person for this role is highly observant, structured, and calm under pressure. They have strong attention to detail, a practical understanding of hospitality operations, and the confidence to challenge standards diplomatically. Successful Quality Assurance Managers are organized, data-driven, and collaborative, with the ability to influence teams without creating resistance. They combine integrity with tact, and are motivated by raising standards, protecting the brand, and helping teams deliver consistently excellent experiences.
