The Catering Sales Executive is responsible for driving revenue through the sale of catering, banquet, and private event services. This role acts as a key commercial link between the venue and its clients, converting enquiries into booked business while ensuring each event is aligned with the venue’s standards, capabilities, and brand positioning. In a restaurant, club, or lounge environment, the role is central to filling event spaces, maximizing outlet revenue, and building long-term client relationships.

Typically based within the Catering, Banquets & Events function, the Catering Sales Executive works closely with operations, culinary, service, and event teams to ensure a seamless handover from sales to execution. The role usually reports to the Catering Sales Manager, Events Manager, or Director of Catering/Banquets, depending on the size and structure of the venue.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Responding promptly to event and catering enquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits
  • Qualifying leads, understanding client needs, and preparing proposals, quotations, and event contracts
  • Selling venue spaces, banquet packages, catering menus, and add-on services to maximize revenue
  • Conducting site inspections, tastings, and client meetings to showcase the venue’s offering
  • Coordinating with operations teams to communicate event requirements, timelines, and special requests
  • Maintaining accurate records of leads, bookings, and client communication in CRM or sales systems
  • Supporting upselling strategies for premium menus, beverage packages, décor, and enhancements
  • Following up after events to encourage repeat business and referrals
  • The right person for this role is:
  • Commercially minded, polished, and confident in client-facing situations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
  • Persuasive yet professional, with the ability to build trust and close sales
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines
  • A strong communicator who can work collaboratively across departments
  • Service-oriented, with an understanding of hospitality standards and guest expectations

Success in this role requires a balance of sales ability, relationship management, and operational awareness.
