The Concierge in a club or lounge is the first point of contact for guests and a key driver of the venue’s overall experience. This role sets the tone for the visit by managing arrival, guest flow, reservations, and special requests with professionalism, warmth, and discretion. In a premium hospitality environment, the concierge helps create a seamless, welcoming atmosphere while protecting service standards, safety, and the venue’s reputation.

Position Overview

The Concierge sits within the Front of House (Dining Service) team and acts as a central link between guests, hosts, reception, security, reservations, and management. Depending on the venue structure, the role typically reports to the Front of House Manager, Restaurant Manager, Venue Manager, or Guest Relations Manager. In busy club and lounge environments, the concierge is often one of the most visible representatives of the brand and may coordinate closely with door staff, floor managers, and VIP hosts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting guests on arrival and creating a polished, confident first impression
  • Managing reservations, waitlists, guest profiles, and table allocation
  • Coordinating guest entry, seating, and movement throughout the venue
  • Handling special requests, VIP arrivals, celebrations, and service preferences
  • Communicating clearly with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to support smooth operations
  • Maintaining awareness of capacity, guest flow, dress code, and venue policies
  • Assisting with conflict prevention and resolution in a calm, discreet manner
  • Supporting service recovery when issues arise and escalating concerns when needed

The role succeeds when the person is:

  • Highly personable, calm under pressure, and naturally composed
  • Exceptionally organised with strong attention to detail
  • Confident in communication, with professional phone and in-person etiquette
  • Able to balance hospitality warmth with firm, fair application of venue standards
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and comfortable handling VIP or sensitive guest information
  • Quick to read situations, solve problems, and adapt to changing service demands
  • A strong team player who understands the rhythm of premium dining, club, and lounge service

A successful concierge combines hospitality instincts with operational discipline, ensuring every guest feels recognised, managed, and well cared for from arrival to departure.
