An Electrician in Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for ensuring the venue’s electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and in full compliance with legal and operational standards. In a restaurant, club, or lounge, this role is critical to keeping lighting, power supply, AV systems, kitchen equipment, refrigeration support systems, and emergency fixtures functioning without disruption. The Electrician helps protect guests, staff, and assets while reducing downtime in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

  • Role in the organisation:

This position sits within the Facilities & Maintenance department and is a key technical support role across the entire venue. The Electrician works closely with the Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, and operational leaders in areas such as Food & Beverage, Kitchen, and Events to support daily trading and special functions. In many venues, the role reports directly to the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Manager, and may also receive task direction from the Chief Engineer or Head of Engineering, where applicable.

  • Key responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine inspections, testing, fault-finding, repairs, and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns and emergency issues to minimise disruption to service.
  • Maintain lighting, sockets, distribution boards, switches, emergency lighting, signage, and other venue electrical assets.
  • Support safe operation of kitchen and back-of-house equipment, including coordination with specialist contractors when needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and venue policies.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records, work orders, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with installations, upgrades, refurbishments, and event setup requirements as needed.
  • What success looks like:

The ideal Electrician is technically skilled, safety-focused, calm under pressure, and highly dependable. They work well in a guest-facing environment where speed, discretion, and professionalism matter. Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the discipline to follow procedures are essential. A successful Electrician communicates clearly, anticipates maintenance risks, and takes pride in keeping the venue fully operational, safe, and ready for service at all times.
