The Event Manager in a club or nightlife venue is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing events that drive guest attendance, enhance the venue’s reputation, and support revenue growth. This role sits at the heart of the venue’s promotions and guest experience strategy, bridging operations, sales, marketing, and front-of-house execution to ensure every event runs smoothly and delivers the intended atmosphere, service standards, and commercial results.
Typically, the Event Manager sits within the management team and reports to the General Manager, Venue Manager, or Head of Operations, depending on the structure of the business. In larger venues, the role may also work closely with marketing, reservations, security, DJs, promoters, and VIP hosts to align event planning with the venue’s brand and trading objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Event planning and coordination: Develop event concepts, timelines, staffing plans, run sheets, and operational requirements for club nights, themed parties, guest appearances, brand activations, and private functions.
- Stakeholder management: Liaise with internal teams and external partners such as promoters, entertainers, suppliers, sponsors, and security providers to ensure all event details are confirmed and delivered to standard.
- Guest experience delivery: Oversee the guest journey from pre-event communication through to arrival, service flow, entertainment, and post-event follow-up, ensuring a premium and seamless experience.
- Sales and revenue support: Work with the sales and marketing teams to drive ticket sales, table bookings, VIP packages, and private event revenue while maintaining strong venue occupancy and spend per head.
- Operational control: Ensure compliance with licensing, safety, crowd management, and event regulations, while coordinating staffing, setup, signage, and equipment requirements.
- Performance review: Monitor attendance, guest feedback, sales results, and operational issues to evaluate event success and improve future planning.
The ideal Event Manager is highly organised, commercially aware, and calm under pressure. They succeed when they combine creativity with discipline, communicate clearly with diverse teams, and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. Strong attention to detail, confidence in guest-facing situations, and the ability to problem-solve in real time are essential.
