The F&B Consultant is a specialist advisory role responsible for shaping, improving, and launching food and beverage operations for restaurants, clubs, and lounges. The role combines operational expertise, commercial insight, and creative thinking to help concepts become viable, efficient, and memorable guest experiences. F&B Consultants are often brought in during concept development, pre-opening, renovation, or turnaround phases to align the venue’s offering with its target market, brand positioning, and revenue goals.

Position Overview

The F&B Consultant typically sits within the Consulting, Concept & Opening stream and works across ownership teams, project managers, designers, chefs, and operations leaders. Depending on the project structure, the role may report to the Managing Director, Project Director, General Manager, or Owner/Operator. In many cases, the consultant acts as an external advisor or interim specialist, providing recommendations, frameworks, and hands-on support rather than direct line management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining or refining the F&B concept, service style, and guest journey
  • Reviewing menus, beverage programs, pricing, and profitability models
  • Supporting opening plans, operational readiness, and launch timelines
  • Advising on service standards, staffing structures, and SOP development
  • Coordinating with chefs, bar teams, suppliers, and design teams to ensure operational practicality
  • Identifying revenue opportunities, cost controls, and guest experience improvements
  • Training leadership teams and supporting the implementation of standards
  • Troubleshooting operational challenges during pre-opening or early trading

Success in this role requires someone who:

  • Has strong experience in premium hospitality operations and concept development
  • Understands both the creative and commercial sides of F&B
  • Communicates clearly with owners, creatives, and operational teams
  • Is highly organized, adaptable, and solution-focused
  • Can balance brand vision with operational feasibility and financial performance
  • Thrives in fast-paced, project-based environments where priorities shift quickly

A strong F&B Consultant is both a strategic thinker and a practical operator—someone who can turn ideas into executable, profitable, and guest-led dining and beverage experiences.
