  • To coordinate team performance in real time, manage service flow, resolve issues quickly, and uphold venue standards across hospitality, presentation, and compliance.
  • To support revenue performance by maximising table turnover, maintaining service timing, and identifying opportunities to improve spend per guest.
  • Position in the organisation
  • The Floor Manager sits within Management & Leadership and is a key link between senior management and the front-of-house team.
  • They typically report to the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, or Operations Manager, depending on the venue structure.
  • They often work closely with the Head Bartender, Host Team, Shift Supervisors, Kitchen Leadership, and Security to keep the full guest journey coordinated.
  • Key areas of responsibility
  • Lead and monitor the floor during service, ensuring strong teamwork, clear communication, and fast issue resolution.
  • Brief and debrief staff, assign sections and duties, and ensure all team members are prepared for the shift.
  • Maintain service standards in greeting, seating, order flow, presentation, and guest recovery.
  • Handle guest complaints, special requests, VIP service, and escalated situations with professionalism and urgency.
  • Monitor table rotation, service pace, and floor coverage to support sales and operational efficiency.
  • Enforce health, safety, licensing, and venue policies, including responsible service and incident management.
  • Support coaching, performance feedback, and on-the-job development of front-of-house staff.
  • Who succeeds in this role
  • A calm, confident leader who stays organised under pressure and leads by example.
  • Someone with excellent guest awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to make quick decisions.
  • A person who is detail-oriented, commercially minded, and able to balance hospitality warmth with firm operational control.
